We are one of the leading Managed IT Service companies in Charlotte, NC, and currently we are in need of a highly skilled network technician for our Charlotte office. We are a locally grown small business that has been leading the industry for nearly 10 years. Servicing a large geographic area out of two service hubs - Charlotte, NC and Boston, MA, with coverage from the Northeast to the South along the Eastern Seaboard. The job is very client focused and self-directed with a virtually unlimited ability to grow within the company.
This is not a desk job. You must be able to and enjoy interacting with people, having every day be different, occasionally getting dirty and comfortable driving to clients throughout the Charlotte Metro area, including northern South Carolina every day.
Technical Skill Requirements
- Familiarity with and ability to recognize and work within Windows Server Environments 2018-2019, and Windows 7-10.
- Knowledgeable in managing and deploying Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, RDP, Exchange, SQL.
- Firm understanding of User Permissions and Group Policy Management in a Windows AD environment.
- Solid understanding of File and Folder Sharing, Drive Mapping, and Printer Sharing and Management in all Microsoft Windows workstation and server environments.
- Understanding of email programs, protocols, procedures and identify what is in use and how it’s configured.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, installation, activation and configuration.
- Working knowledge of virtualization environments, specifically VMWARE and Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of various network protocols (specifically TCP/IP) and the tools used to test communications on these protocols.
- Experience with network configuration and troubleshooting, to include routing, switches, cabling, VLANS, and firewalls. (Applicant should be able to setup and configure a complete working network environment from scratch.)
- At least two years of end user technical support experience.
Non-Technical Requirements
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal calmly, positively and professionally in tense or elevated situations.
- Able to manage time effectively and work efficiently, both with and without direct supervision
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent judgment skills to be able to properly evaluate various situations and immediately provide effective solutions.
- Great attention to details, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Good communication skills. Able to communicate technical information to non-technical users effectively.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a dependable vehicle (we are currently evaluating company vehicles for 2021).
Education Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or GED at a minimum is required.
- Current Microsoft Certifications preferred but not required (“real world” and hands on experience will be considered as well).
- Technical schooling/training will also be considered.
Hours and Compensation Details
Training/Probation Period
- Hourly Compensation based on experience with a guarantee of at least 24 hours or more per week.
- Training/Probation period typically lasts 90 days but could end earlier or be extended based on skill set.
Post Training
- Full-Time plus hours. Our technicians average 35-55 hours per week currently.
- Hourly Compensation based on experience. Continued raises in compensation are based on performance, and skill set, and not necessarily based on the longevity in the company.
- Eligible for yearly bonuses.
- Option to participate in a company sponsored medical plan.
- Technician will be expected to work much more independently as well as on complex projects with other team members.
Continued Job Description and Information
This job does sometimes require long hours, occasional late nights, and weekend work as many projects cannot be completed during normal business hours. These hours are typically planned well in advance and are typically offered to the most skilled technicians first. Extensive travel within the Charlotte Metro area (+/- 60 miles) is required and occasionally there will be opportunities to work out of state.
